3 Key Facts About Our Pricing
Why is SGP not priced as high as other companies? I have been asked if I'm running the risk of causing customers to think SGP's work is substandard due to lower pricing. Many people perceive a greater price to be equal to a greater quality. Since 1984 I have been doing video production, over 18 years of that was in television production. I have great "video story telling" abilities from shooting to editing. I also believe that the average person should be able to afford a professional production of the moments of life they desire to hold on to or preserve for generations to come. SGP believes in professional video production being affordable.
The standard time it takes to edit your video? For every minute of video shot, it averages 1 hour of editing. (see survey) There are some exceptions where it takes more, and a few, less.
While the following survey is concerning news videographers, the results of editing times are the same:
Video Workload Survey Results, by andydickinson.net
Some broad results:
- The average length for video is between 2 -3 minutes [referring to news video]
- The average production time is between 2 -4 hours
- It takes 1 hour to produce 1 minute of video [Note: A later survey revealed many news videographers/editors estimate up to 4 hours per 1 minute of video]
The average hourly rate in our region of the US is $85 per hour? SGP offers project pricing, as you will see in our weddings and Pet Star videos. Our usual base line is an hourly rate of $65. However, it is more common for us to figure the time involved for your desired result and then discount it considerably, (actually reduce our hourly rate) giving you a project rate, instead of per hour charge. (Note: Churches and Non-profits are given greater consideration). You owe it to yourself to contact us and let us discuss your desired outcome and give you an affordable price. It costs nothing to ask.
